Hollie McNish comes to York!
One of the first events we will be hosting in York to celebrate our new bookshop opening is with the extraordinary poet and author, Hollie McNish.
Hollie is the Sunday Times bestseller and Ted Hughes award-winner behind the collections Slug, Lobster, Nobody Told Me and other collections. She has also adapted Greek tragedy Antigone, and co-wrote Offside, a play, with fellow poet Sabrina Mahfouz.
Hollie joins us for her new collection, bringing her much-loved style to unpick in poetry the problematic concept of virginity: its history, social impact, and the future possibilities for freedom.
The belief in the concept of virginity loss, as well as causing us much gossip in the school playground, has led to unimaginable atrocities now and for centuries past.
At times hilarious, at times harrowing, always hopeful - expect adult content packed with plates of mashed potato, record players, train stations and as much black forest gateau as you can devour.
