To all francophiles of York and North Yorkshire, we invite you to join our new French Fiction reading group!
Every last Sunday of the month, after our doors have closed, we will meet in the bookshop to discuss, in French, the latest novel our group will have read, also in French. Anyone comfortable reading and speaking in the language is welcome to join - our group will be led by our native French bookseller and welcomes all nationalities and backgrounds.
This September, we’re turning to the 2014 winner of the Prix Renaudot: David Foenkinos’ novel, Charlotte. Inspiring, unflinching, terrible and hopeful, Charlotte is the heartbreaking true story of a life filled with curiosity, animated by genius and cut short by hatred.
We have plenty of copies this month’s book in French available in the bookshop - come redeem your voucher, and bonne lecture.
N.B. We have a very limited amount of seats available to our reading groups, if for any reason your plans change, do let us know in advance so that we can offer the seat to the next person on the waiting list!
Portrait saisissant d'une femme exceptionnelle, évocation d'un destin tragique, Charlotte est le récit d'une quête. Celle d'un écrivain hanté par une artiste, et qui part à sa recherche.
