Celebrating 25 Years of Routledge Classics
Join us for an evening of philosophy, history, politics, psychology and anthropology and everything else that has made Routledge Classics a mainstay of intellectual life for the past 25 years. Each of the panellists will discuss a Routledge Classic that has either influenced their own thinking or engages with questions that continue to provoke debate today. Amongst the books explored will be Joseph Schumpeter’s Capitalism, Socialism and Democracy and W.H.Rivers’ Magic, Medicine and Religion.’
To celebrate the occasion, we will be hosting a discussion around the theme of identity and self-identity, moderated by Tony Bruce, Senior Publisher of Routledge Philosophy and Classics. Tony will be joined by a growing list of academics from the University of St Andrews, including:
Alexander Douglas (Philosophy, author of Against Identity)
James Harris (Philosophy, author of Hume: An Intellectual Biography)
Jacqueline Rose (History, author of Godly Kingship in Restoration England: The Politics of the Royal Supremacy, 1660-1688)
Poppy Kershaw (History)
There will be copies of special Routledge Classic 25th Anniversary Editions to purchase, as well as complimentary tote bags provide by the publisher for early arrivers.
