Tim Downie is an actor and podcaster. As an actor, he has starred in productions as varied as Outlander, Paddington and The Kings Speech as well as cult hits Upstart Crow, Toast of London, Good Omens and Geek Girl. He also made his gaming debut in the multi-award winning Baldur's Gate.
He joins us this October to celebrate Rituals, the brilliant new book in which Tim brings to life the mystical stories that shape the character of our isles. Push through the bramble and briar to embark on a journey through the seasons, encountering wonders from clowns to coffins, horn dances to blazing tar barrels, punkies to soulcakers.
Filled with detailed insights into hidden mythic sites and stories from the incredible people that keep our folklore fires burning year after year, this book is an invitation to step outside and reconnect with the ebb and flow of the natural world. Rituals reveals how British folklore's rich tapestry breathes life and power into every season.
The event will be chaired will be chaired by ever-brilliant Dan Richards, the co-author of Holloway (with Robert Macfarlane and Stanley Donwood), and the author of The Beechwood Airship Interviews, Climbing Days, Outpost and Overnight. Dan has written for the New York Times, Guardian, Economist and Esquire.
