One's fun, two's a party, and three's a crowd. That's what they say, right? Well, if that's true, then why do so many novels come in threes? Join Andrew on his new quest to find the answer from the very best Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror series - be they epic quests across the stars, or the rise and fall of great heroes.

For our first meeting, we convene in October to discuss a season-appropriate and delightful ode to Slasher horror by Stephen Graham Jones, one of the modern horror greats. Whether you're a Freddy aficionado or can't tell your Jasons from your Ghostfaces, there's something here for everyone in The Indian Lake trilogy, a modern tale of small town horror, cycles of violence, and a young woman on the fringes taking a stand for the place she calls home.

Jade Daniels knows everything there is to know about the Slasher. She can name every machete-wielding monster ever put to film, and falls asleep at night reciting the names of the Final Girls who stood against them.

So there's no one more prepared than her when bodies start turning up across her peaceful lakeside town of Proofrock, Idaho. But, as is convention of the genre, no one believes the high school senior with an overactive imagination about the vengeful spirit about to wreak havoc on their little town. Guess she's on her own then, armed with nothing but an encyclopedic knowledge of the genre, a pack of cigarettes in her top pocket, and the hope that the new girl in town might just be the Final Girl she's been waiting for.

But life isn't always like the movies, and there's more than a few surprises waiting Jade under the surface of Indian Lake.

This is a quarterly reading group meeting to discuss a selection of books by a single author.

There’s no need to prepare anything - just come ready to voice your opinions, and enjoy a glass of wine while you're at it!

Each entry place costs £5, fully redeemable as a voucher towards any book in store. We hope you’ll join us for some great conversation.
