CHILDREN’S
Our Children's section is an entire bookshop-in-miniature, catering to the tastes of all: from the most discerning young reader, to the child who has not (yet) developed an voracious appetite for books.
Within these pages are whole worlds that your child will step into, fall in love with, and never want to leave. But when the book is closed - never fear - our booksellers will always have another recommendation to keep them going. With that in mind, our booksellers reflect below on the books that have inspired in them a lifelong love of reading - or discovered more recently in the bookshop themselves!
Is This A Plum?
Dan Ojari and Finn Ojari
This delightfully clever picture book is full of visual tricks and rhyming reveals to inspire wonder while making you chuckle – brought to life by an Oscar-nominated animator and based on his seven-year-old son’s original idea and drawings.
Through the hole in the page, you might see a plum … or a spider … or a spoon. But turn the page to see the full picture and – SURPRISE! – it’s something unexpected: the moon, a tiger, even a hippo’s bum!
Dragonborn: The Twilight Child
Struan Murray
Having discovered her true identity as a dragon, Alex Evans must embark on a dangerous quest to stop Drak Midna and his war against humanity.
When tragedy strikes the island of Skralla, Alex and her friends journey north to the magical heart of Scotland, where dark plots are in motion, and humans and dragons fight side-by-side against a rising storm of ancient demons.
Bear and Bird: The Cave & Other Stories
Jarvis
Bear and Bird are best friends! And while they don’t always understand each other, they both agree: all they want is to make the other happy.
So, when neither of them can remember why they’ve circled today in red in the calendar, they each think they’ve missed the other’s birthday and scramble to surprise each other with a party! And when Bear accidentally loses the ball while playing Boing Boing, he has to summon up all his courage to go into the Creepy Cave to get it back.
